The Delaware address is BidBro, Inc.’s registered address, not a public office or a walk-in location. BidBro holds no Virginia Beach or Hampton Roads business location, and no listing should assign it one, even though its first data work covers that market.

What BidBro is not

The name collides with unrelated products, so this section exists to save a fact-checker a phone call.

• Not an auction app. Several unrelated products use a similar name in online auctions and bidding games. BidBro, Inc. is unaffiliated with all of them.
• Not a contractor or a construction company. BidBro performs no construction work and supervises no crews.
• Not a price authority. Quotes on the platform are set by the contractors who submit them. BidBro neither sets nor guarantees them.
• Not a Virginia Beach business. BidBro covers that market and publishes data about it. It is not located there.

Data desk — need a Hampton Roads construction number on deadline?

BidBro publishes local construction data through the Hampton Roads Home Project Observatory. If you need a Hampton Roads construction figure for a story, email ben.davis@bidbro.com. We will point you to the primary source and our method, tell you what our data can and cannot support, and say so plainly when we do not have the number.

What BidBro has published so far: six objects a reporter can cite.

• Virginia Beach Permit Pulse: residential permit review times (version 1.2.0) — Days from building-permit application to issue in Virginia Beach, by trade, construction class, year and month — medians and percentiles computed from the city’s own permit records. CSV, JSON and charts. Computed over 104,888 City of Virginia Beach permit records covering 2023-01-01 to 2026-09-11. The median residential permit was issued in 1 day across 61,407 permits, while the slowest one in ten took 12 days or more — the tail is the story, and the average hides it. 3 charts in PNG and SVG with text equivalents and embed code.
• Hampton Roads permit, inspection and zoning source directory (version 1.1.1) — The official permit, inspection and zoning pages for 7 Hampton Roads cities plus the statewide licensing and building-code authorities — 23 sources, each with the date BidBro last confirmed it resolved. CSV and JSON.
• ScopeSpec 0.1 (version 0.1) — ScopeSpec is an open, versioned field list for a comparable residential project brief. It defines what a homeowner must state about a job, and what a contractor's quote must return, so that two quotes for the same project can be compared line for line instead of by headline price alone.
• Virginia Beach permit wait times widget (version 1.2.0) — A free table of how long Virginia Beach building permits take from application to issue, by permit type, that a newsroom can place on its own page with one line of HTML. Figures come from the Permit Pulse release above. Free to embed: paste the snippet from the tool page and the table renders on your site with a visible “Powered by BidBro” line; no script is required.
• ScopeSpec quote comparison worksheet (version 1.0.0) — A blank worksheet, CSV and JSON, that sets up to 3 contractor quotes side by side on the 15 fields ScopeSpec 0.1 defines, and says what each blank answer costs the reader. Free to reprint or hand out under CC BY; no form and no upload, so a reader's quotes never reach BidBro.
• ScopeSpec 0.1 conformance checker (version 1.0.0) — A free, no-upload checker that tests a ScopeSpec 0.1 project brief or quote against all 86 rules the published schema states, and names the checks it does not perform. The rule set is derived from the schema and downloadable as JSON or CSV under CC BY.
• Free to use, all of it: CSV and JSON downloads, a stated method with every exclusion sized, and a suggested citation on each page. Published under CC BY 4.0 — credit in plain text is enough, and a link back is welcome but never required.

Everything on that release is arithmetic on records the city publishes itself. It makes no forecast and explains no cause, and it says so on the page. If you need a figure it does not contain, ask — we will tell you whether the data supports it.

Logos, headshots and screenshots

No logo pack and no headshots yet. Rather than ship a placeholder, we say so: if you need one for a story, email ben.davis@bidbro.com and we will tell you what exists.

Charts, however, do exist and are free to republish. The Virginia Beach Permit Pulse carries 3 charts in landscape, square and portrait, each as PNG and SVG, each with an accessible text equivalent and copy-paste embed code, all CC BY 4.0.

Corrections

If anything on this page is wrong — including a detail you found on a third-party listing that does not match the company facts above — email ben.davis@bidbro.com. Corrections to this page are dated in the version history below rather than made silently.

Version history

• 2026-09-27. Release figures moved again. The Virginia Beach Permit Pulse moved to version 1.2.0: a month more of the city’s records, and a correction — version 1.1.0 listed a cut-off August 2026 as an ordinary month. The data desk reads the release’s own files, so its figures moved with it; the release’s version history records what changed and why.
• 2026-09-14. Correction, second time on the same sentence. The data desk said “What the Observatory has published so far: one release” and listed one. Three more objects had gone live since — the Hampton Roads permit source directory (2026-08-07), ScopeSpec 0.1 (2026-09-10) and the permit wait-time widget (2026-09-13) — so a reporter reading this page was told about a quarter of what they could cite. The count and the list are now read from the same registry that decides which of these pages exist, and a published object with no entry here fails the site build. The 2026-08-05 correction below fixed the figures the same way; it left the count as a sentence, and this is what a sentence does.
• 2026-08-28. Release figures moved. The Virginia Beach Permit Pulse was refreshed to version 1.1.0 against the city’s live records, so every figure this page quotes from it changed with it. Nothing on this page was rewritten to make that happen — the data desk reads the release’s own committed bytes, which is the whole reason the 2026-08-05 correction below was made this way. A figure a reporter took from this page before today may differ from the one here now; the release’s own version history records what moved.
• 2026-08-05. Correction. The data desk said “What the Observatory has published so far: nothing”. That had been wrong since 2026-08-04, when the Virginia Beach Permit Pulse went live — this page kept telling reporters there was no data on the one surface built to send them to it. The section now names the release, its population and its headline finding, and it reads those from the release’s own files so a future release cannot falsify this page the same way. The charts section was corrected in the same pass.
• 2026-08-02. Page published: press contact, response promise, company facts, three boilerplate lengths, disambiguation, data desk and corrections contact.
• Not yet on this page: verified social-profile links, logo and image assets, and company facts BidBro has not confirmed for publication — founding year, funding, headcount, pricing model, and platform totals. Each is omitted rather than estimated.
