This project involves the replacement of a residential electric panel rated at 200 amps or less. No formal plans are required for this work. All installation activities must fully comply with the City of Mesa electrical codes and the requirements set forth by the servicing electric utility. Under no circumstances should utility wires or meters be disconnected by the contractor or homeowner, as self-disconnection is strictly prohibited and can lead to equipment damage or personal injury. Failure to properly schedule a utility disconnect through the appropriate channels may result in additional utility trip fees and charges for any damage caused to utility equipment. It is mandatory to coordinate with the applicable utility provider—either SRP (contact at 602-236-0777) or City of Mesa Electric Utility (contact via engineering@electricatmesaaz.gov)—to schedule a pre-construction meeting and obtain all utility service requirements specific to your permit. Depending on the utility, this pre-construction meeting may be mandatory before scheduling any disconnect or reconnect. Disconnect, reconnect, or other utility-related fees may be charged separately from permit fees.
