Replacement of Residential 200 Amp (or Less) Electric Panel with Utility Coordination

This project involves the replacement of a residential electric panel rated 200 amps or less. No formal plans are required for this work. All installation activities must fully comply with the City of Mesa electrical codes as well as the servicing electric utility’s requirements. Under no circumstances shall utility wires or meters be disconnected by the contractor or homeowner. Self-disconnection of utility wires or meters is strictly prohibited due to the risk of damage or injury. Failure to properly schedule utility disconnection through the appropriate utility provider may result in additional trip charges and fees for any damage caused to utility equipment. Prior to commencing work, the contractor must coordinate with the applicable utility provider—either SRP (Salt River Project) at 602-236-0777 or City of Mesa Electric Utility via engineering@electricatmesaaz.gov—to schedule a pre-construction meeting and obtain specific utility service requirements related to the permit. Depending on the utility, this pre-construction meeting may be mandatory before any disconnect or reconnect work can be scheduled. Disconnect/reconnect fees or other charges may be billed separately by the utility and are not included in permit fees. Strict adherence to these requirements is essential to avoid delays and additional costs.
