Energy Efficiency Compliance for Commercial Building Addition or Alteration

Project details

The project requires that the building addition or alteration complies fully with the energy efficiency standards outlined in the applicable city code and state regulations. Specifically, the structure must meet the energy tax program requirements as set forth in City Code 35-41. Compliance with Energy Star 97 standards, as applicable to the 2021 Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC), is mandatory. An accepted energy efficiency report must be submitted to demonstrate adherence to these standards. Additionally, a re-evaluation of the building’s energy performance will be required to maintain eligibility in the tax program when energy requirements are updated in the next code cycle.
