Sewer Lateral Repair or Replacement with Compliance and Permitting Requirements

Perform repair or replacement of the building sewer lateral on the property only. Sewer lateral and connection to the main sewer (SL & X) are required beyond the property line. Installation of an overflow device may be necessary depending on site conditions. When excavation occurs within 25 feet of a survey monument, compliance with State Law 8771 is mandatory. Contact the inspector prior to beginning excavation to avoid a minimum fine of $5,800 for non-compliance. Provide the USA (Underground Service Alert) ticket number and date to obtain the required permit. The permit is valid for 90 days from issuance. If the work is to be conducted on a designated “creekside property,” a separate creek protection permit is required. If the property is not flagged as “creekside” but the work is within 100 feet of a creek channel, a creek determination must be performed to assess applicability of the creek protection ordinance.
