Sewer Lateral Repair or Replacement with Compliance and Permitting Requirements

Perform repair or replacement of the building sewer lateral on the property only. Sewer lateral and connection to the main sewer (SL & X) are required beyond the property line. Installation of an overflow device may be necessary depending on site conditions. When working within 25 feet of a survey monument, strict compliance with State Law 8771 is mandatory. Contact the inspector prior to commencing excavation to avoid a minimum fine of $5,800 for non-compliance. A valid USA (Utility Service Alert) number and date must be provided to obtain the permit. The permit is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. If the work is to be performed on a designated “creekside property,” a separate creek protection permit is required. If the property is not flagged as a creekside property but the work will occur within 100 feet of a creek channel, a creek determination must be conducted to confirm applicability of the creek protection ordinance.
