Sewer Lateral Repair or Replacement with Compliance and Permit Requirements

This project involves the repair or replacement of the building sewer lateral on the property only, including the sewer lateral (SL) and cleanout (X) beyond the property line as required. An overflow device may be necessary depending on site conditions. If excavation is to occur within 15 feet of a monument, strict compliance with State Law 8771 is mandatory. The inspector must be contacted prior to commencing excavation to avoid a minimum fine of $5,800 for non-compliance. The Utility Service Address (USA) number and date must be provided to obtain the permit. The permit is valid for 180 days from the date of issuance. For work performed on designated “creekside properties,” a separate creek protection permit is required. If the property is not flagged as creekside in the Accela system but the work will be conducted within 100 feet of a creek channel, a creek determination must be completed to assess applicability of the creek protection ordinance. All work must adhere to applicable regulations and permit conditions to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
