Mr. Jung, founder of the hardware store, was never too busy to stop and give a hand to the neighborhood kids with skates and bikes. He always had parts on hand for us even though there was not much profit in it for Freret Hardware.That was in the 1930's. When I was grown and married , I lived around the corner on LaSalle.
